The Mustang swim program is hosting its first-ever swim clinic on Sept. 11 at the Mustang Aquatic Center.
The clinic is for middle school and intermediate students with a cost of $50 per participant, which includes a t-shirt, drinks, and snacks, and will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Swimmers will learn different swim stroke techniques, including the breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle, from high school swimmers and coaches, including coach Ashley Berndt.
Berndt is excited to have her team working with upcoming swimmers, showing them the competitive side of the sport and different drills to work on before reaching the high school level.
“Swimming is fun, but it takes commitment,” Berndt said. “We’re excited about the clinic so we can help young people get better at what they’re doing and let the kids meet the high school swimmers and coaches.
“A lot of kids will sign up for the team, but don’t really know what all we do or what it takes. This is a great way to help build relationships, get our name out there, and showcase what the swim team is all about.”
