The Mustang Broncos followed a runner-up finish at the 2024 Choctaw Tournament with four top 15 wins over the Norman Tigers, Edmond Santa Fe Wolves, Southmoore Sabercats, and Edmond North Huskies.
MUSTANG 3, NORMAN 1
The Broncos (19-6) picked up their 12th of the season, defeating Norman in four sets on Aug. 27 at the Mustang Event Center.
Coach Blake Newman’s squad won the first set 25-20 before taking the second set 25-15. Norman bounced back with a 25-14 win in the third set before Mustang closed out the victory with a 25-23 win in the fourth.
Three Broncos finished with at least 10 kills on the offensive end, including a team-high 13 by outside hitter Grace Davis (Jr.). Middle blocker Emrie Brown (Sr.) added 12 while middle blocker Siyah Williams (So.) tallied 10. Opposite side hitter Hadley Hunter (Sr.) recorded seven kills opposite side hitter Hayden Tobolsky (Jr.) recorded four.
Setter Reagan Glenn (Jr.) cleaned up on offense as well, finishing with a team-high 37 assists. Libero Gracelyn Higgins (Sr.) added five while Davis added two.
Four players finished with double-digit digs on the defensive end, including 12 apiece by Davis, Higgins, and Hunter. Glenn added nine digs while defensive specialist Joslynn Peterson (Jr.) added nine. Tobolsky and Williams each finished with three.
Three players finished with at least two blocks at the net, including a team-high three by Williams. Davis, Brown, and Tobolsky each finished with two while Glenn tallied one.
Davis led the squad with three aces in the service game while Glenn and Hunter each finished with one.
MUSTANG 3, EDMOND SANTA FE 0
Mustang nabbed its second win in a row by sweeping Edmond Santa Fe on Sept. 3 at home.
Tobolsky led the way on the offensive end, tallying a team-high 10 kills. Brown added six kills while Davis added four and Williams added three. Opposite side hitter Prasiah Hunt (Jr.) finished with two.
Glenn once again led the team in assists, finishing with 20. Williams, Davis, and Brown each tallied one.
Higgins led the way on the defensive end, recording a team-high 11 digs. Hunt recorded nine digs while Davis and Glenn each finished with six. Tobolsky finished with two.
Brown finished with a team-high three blocks at the net while Williams, Davis, Glenn, and Tobolsky each finished with one.
Three players finished with at least two aces in the service game, including a team-high three by Tobolsky. Brown and Higgins each added two while Davis and Hunter added one apiece.
MUSTANG 3, SOUTHMOORE 0
The Broncos made it three straight wins with a three-set win over Southmoore on Sept. 5.
Five players finished with at least five kills on the offensive end, including a team-high nine by Hunter. Davis tallied eight kills while Brown and Tobolsky each finished with six. Williams recorded five while Hunt, Glenn, and Higgins each recorded one.
Glenn finished as the team’s top helper, tallying 28 assists. Higgins added five while Hunter added one.
Higgins and Tobolsky each finished with double-digit digs on the defensive end, including 17 by Higgins and 12 by Tobolsky. Glenn added eight digs while Hunter added seven. Hunt finished with four, Brown finished with three, and Williams finished with two.
Williams led the team at the net, recording four blocks while Hunt, Glenn, and Brown each finished with two.
Glenn paced the team in the service game with four aces. Outside hitter Stevie Sawyer (Sr.) and Hunt each finished with one.
MUSTANG 3, EDMOND NORTH 0
Mustang followed a four-set loss to No. 13 Piedmont with a three-set win over the eighth-ranked Huskies on Sept. 12.
Three players led the team on the offensive end, each recording double-digit kills. Williams and Brown each finished with a team-high 13 kills while Davis finished with 10. Hunter added nine while Tobolsky added four.
Glenn recorded a team-high 36 assists in the win while Higgins recorded eight.
Three players finished with at least 16 digs on the defensive end. Glenn led the way with 17 digs while Higgins and Hunter each tallied 16. Brown added eight while Davis added six. Williams and Tobolsky each added three.
Glenn led the way with four blocks while Williams finished with three. Brown and Hunter each tallied two.
