The Mustang Broncos earned their 10th straight district win on Monday, scoring 10 runs on nine hits while starting pitcher Amelia Mason (Sr.) dealt yet another solid performance from the circle.

Three Broncos produced two hits, including catcher Jade Asbaugh (So.), who finished with a game-high four RBI. Left fielder Weslyn McCorvey (Fr.) went 2-for-3 with one run while Skyla Hagan (Fr.) went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Mason struck out seven Spartans over seven innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits with no walks.

SCORING PLAYS

Mustang (17-6, 10-0) cracked the scoreboard early in the game, plating one run on one hit, a walk, and a fielder’s choice in the top of the first inning.

Centerfielder Lexy Kierstead (Jr.) got things going with a one-out single before a walk to Ashbaugh. First baseman Rylann Beeson (Jr.) scored Kierstead on a fielder’s choice and an error to take a 1-0 lead.

The Broncos added two runs on two errors, a walk, and a single in the top of the third.

Kierstead and Ashbaugh reached on back-to-back errors by the Spartans before Kierstead scored in the following at-bat to make it 2-0. After a walk to Beeson, Keele extended the lead to 3-0 with an RBI-single.

Bixby (14-6, 8-2) scored one run on three singles and a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the third, however, Mustang exploded with seven runs on four hits, three hit-by-pitch walks, and an error in the top of the seventh to seal the victory.

Pinch-hitter Raegan Hodde (Fr.), shortstop Reese Poage (Jr.), and Kierstead were all hit by pitches in three straight place appearances, pushing across one run for a 5-1 advantage.

Ashbaugh followed with a bases clearing single, giving her squad a 9-1 lead. Beeson followed with a walk while McCorvey singled for the second time in the frame. Hagan closed things out with an RBI-single to make it 10-1.
