The Mustang Broncos cruised to a 12-1 win over the Deer Creek Antlers on Aug. 29, racking up 11 hits while starting pitcher Aubree Hall (Sr.) allowed just two.
Three players finished with at least two knocks for coach Lacy Darity’s squad, including shortstop Reese Poage (Jr.), first baseman Rylann Beeson (Jr.), and left fielder Weslyn McCorvey (Fr.). Poage and Beeson each homered to help lead the way.
Hall was lights out, tossing a two-hitter while giving up just one run with three strikeouts and two walks.
SCORING PLAYS
The Broncos got going early, scoring two runs on one hit, one walk, one error, and a RBI-groundout in the top of the first inning.
Beeson reached base with a one-out walk to spark the offense, followed by a Deer Creek error off the bat of centerfielder Lexy Kierstead (Jr.). Second baseman Abigail Keele (Jr.) drove in the first run in the next at-bat, singling home Beeson for a 1-0 lead. Catcher Jade Ashbaugh (So.) drove in the next run, scoring Kierstead on a groundout to second base for a two-run advantage.

Mustang kept things rolling in the top of the second, plating three runs on two hits and a walk.
Third baseman Adyson McGavock (So.) put a two-out single into centerfield before a walk to Poage gave Beeson an opportunity with two runners. She came threw, blasting a three-run home run to right field to extend the team’s lead to 5-0.
The flood gates opened in the top of the third as the Broncos scored six runs on five hits, including their second bomb of the game.
Ashbaugh and McCorvey got things going with back-to-back one-out singles before Skyla Hagan (Fr.) loaded the bases by reaching on a fielder’s choice with no out recorded. McGavock pushed home a run after being hit by a pitch before Poage blasted a grand slam home run to center field for a 10-0 lead.
Beeson singled to left field in the following at-bat before scoring on an RBI-double by Kierstead for an 11-0 advantage.
Mustang finished the game with one run on two hits and an error in the top of the fifth.
Poage and Beeson started the inning with back-to-back one out singles before an error off the bat of Kierstead pushed across the team’s final run, making it 12-1 before Deer Creek’s final chance at the dish.
Poage finished the game 2-for-3 with four RBI, three runs scored, and one walk while Beeson went 3-for-3 with three RBI, three runs, and one free pass. McCorvey went 2-for-3 with one run.
The Broncos continue their season on Tuesday (Sept. 10) with a Senior Night matchup against the Midwest City Bombers, starting at 6:30 p.m.
