Bronco boys finish third at 2024 Field Run Festival at Deer Creek, girls finish ninth

EDMOND – The Mustang Bronco boys opened the season with a third-place finish while the Bronco girls finished ninth at the 2024 Field Run Festival at Deer Creek High School last week.

Three runners on the boys team finished inside the top 20, including Noah Thayer (Jr.), Teegan Nelson (Jr.), and Cameron Langdon (Sr.). Emerson Hodde (Sr.) paced the girls squad, coming in 50^th individually.

BOYS

Thayer, who finished second overall in the 2023 Class 6A state championship meet, led the Broncos with a ninth-place finish, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:06.74. Nelson clocked in at 16:23.04 in 18^th place while Langdon finished with a time of 16:35.67 in 20^th.

Rylan MartinezKappel (So.) and Jackson Hill (So.) rounded out the team’s scorers. MartinezKappel finished 33^rd with a time of 17:05.73 while Hill clocked in at 17:13.38 in 39^th place.

Myles Mayfield (Sr.) finished 52^nd with a time of 17:36.70 while Wyatt Karber (Jr.) placed 68^th at 18:24.01 as the team’s displacers.

The Piedmont Wildcats won the race with 64 points and all five placers inside the top 20. The host Deer Creek Antlers finished second with 112 points and all five placers inside the top 35.

Zachary Williams from Cache finished first individually with a time of 15:21.92.

GIRLS

Hodde cracked the 22-minute mark with her top 50 performance, clocking in at 21:32.06 to lead the Mustang girls.

Arwyn Mann (Jr.), Jayci Klopfenstein (So.), Lauren Vivier (Sr.), and Dylan Britton (Fr.) rounded out the team’s scorers and all finished inside the top 70.

Mann placed 60^th overall with a time of 22:35.06, Klopfenstein placed 63^rd with a time of 22:56.74, Viver placed 66^th with a time of 23:10.96, and Britton placed 70^th at 23:39.06.

Natalie Echeverria (So.) finished 72^nd with a time of 23:50.16 while Elliana Ortiz (Jr.) finished 74^th with a time of 24:00.92 as the team’s displacers.

Piedmont dominated the race, totaling 33 points with all five placers finishing inside the top 15. The Jenks Trojans finished second with 61 points and the Edmond North Huskies finished third with 92.

Gwyneth Meyers from Bishop Kelley finished first overall with a time of 18:10.68.

Mustang hits the course at Wild Horse Park this weekend for the 2024 Mustang Harrier night race.

Races are set to start at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday with lights across the course.
