Eight Mustang Bronco players earned 6A-1 All-District honors last week, including three selected to the First Team and one to the Second Team.
Cherish Haywood (Jr.) headed the list as the 6A-1 Defensive Player of the Year.
She earned the award and was selected the All-District First Team after leading the Broncos with 72 steals. She finished with 66 deflections, 10 blocked shots, and three charges and was also a force offensively, averaging 11.2 points per game to go along with 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
Parker Simonsen (Sr.) and Mya Alston (So.) were also selected to the All-District First Team.

Simonsen, a UCO-signee, averaged 10.3 points per game while adding 3.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds. She shot 38-percent from the floor, including 32.5-percent from three-point range.
Defensively, Simonsen finished with 24 steals, 26 deflections, and a team-high six charges taken.
Alston burst onto the scene this year, averaging a team-high 13.4 points per game while adding 2.7 rebounds. She shot over 47-percent from the floor while shooting over 41-percent from three-point range.
On the defensive end, Alston finished with 44 steals and a team-high 77 deflections. She also blocked two shots and took two charges.
Christal Long (Jr.) was selected to the All-District Second Team after a stellar season.
She averaged a team-high 6.2 rebounds per game while adding 5.5 points per game on 47-percent shooting. As one of the team’s top defensive players, Long finished with 43 steals and 39 deflections to go with nine blocks.
Kamryn Bass (Sr.), Camryn Engles (Sr.), Riley Trammell (Sr.), and Eliana Valentin Florance (Jr.) earned All-District Honorable Mention honors.

Bass, one of the team’s top three-point shooters, averaged just under four points per game. Engles and Trammell played valuable minutes throughout the season, combining for 161 rebounds and 112 points.
Valentin Florance averaged 4.3 points per game and totaled 20 assists on the season.
The Broncos went 10-4 in 6A-1 district play, finishing third behind district champion Edmond North and runner-up Putnam City North.
