The Mustang Broncos celebrated Homecoming week in grand fashion on Tuesday night.
Prior to revealing the 2022-23 winter sports king and queen, the Broncos (10-10) cranked out a 41-19 blowout win over the Deer Creek Antlers (7-12) inside the Event Center.
Senior guard Lunden Foreman, who was crowned this year’s Homecoming Queen, scored a game-high 13 points to help lead Mustang to the win. Offensively, she drilled two triples, dished out two assists, and grabbed two rebounds. Defensively, she led the squad with five steals.
Cherish Haywood (So.) and Parker Simonsen (Jr.) got in on the mix as well, combining for 18 points and 10 rebounds in over 21 minutes apiece. Each scored nine points. Haywood grabbed a team-high six boards while Simonsen finished with three helpers.
Freshman Mya Alston was also productive. She scored five points and pulled down five rebounds in over 22 minutes. Tionna Johnson (So.) and Riley Trammell each scored two points while Kamryn Bass (Jr.) scored one.

The Broncos got off to a slow start, shooting just 21-percent in the first half, including a 3-for-13 mark from three-point range. However, things started to fall late as they went 7-for-13 from the field in the second half.
Coach Katie Smith’s team didn’t let up defensively, holding the Antlers to just 21-percent shooting while forcing 24 turnovers. Mustang also won the rebound battle 33-25 and only gave up 13 extra possessions.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak and marked the team’s sixth victory at home.
The Broncos travel to Southmoore Friday night before a Valentine’s Day matchup at Moore on Tuesday. They close out the regular season on Feb. 17 with a senior night matchup against Canadian County rival Yukon.
