The No. 15 Mustang Broncos started the second semester strong last Friday night at the Event Center.
Led by three scorers in double digits and a solid shooting performance overall, the Broncos (7-5) defeated No. 17 Westmoore 59-45 in their first game since the Bank 7 Holiday Classic in December.
Senior Lunden Foreman led the way with 19 points on 6-for-8 shooting – all six buckets coming from three-point range. Mya Alston (Fr.) scored 14 while going 5-for-9 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. Alston also added five rebounds and three assists.
Parker Simonsen tallied 11 points, including eight from the charity stripe.
The Broncos went 18-for-40 from the floor overall and 7-for-11 from beyond the arc, starting the semester with a solid shooting effort after not seeing much fall in December. They also went 16-for-22 from the free-throw line.
Riley Trammell (Jr.) also had a solid game, scoring seven points while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds.
Cherish Haywood (So.) and Christal Long (So.) each scored four points. Haywood also dished out four assists and grabbed three boards. Long pulled down three rebounds and finished with one helper.
Mustang looks to stay hot at the Shawnee Invitational this weekend, opening the tournament with a matchup against unranked Union (2-10) on Thursday at 4 p.m.
The Broncos return home on Jan. 27 to host No. 16 Moore.
