Langdon leads Mustang to top 20 finish at 2024 Chile Pepper Festival; Bronco girls crack top 50

Cameron Langdon (Sr.) finished inside the top 20 and helped lead the Mustang Broncos to a top 20 team finish in the 2024 Chile Pepper Festival El Caliente 5K on Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Langdon produced his best performance of the season, finishing 15th overall among over 350 runners from across the region. He clocked in with a time of 15:44.80.

Only one runner from Oklahoma finished ahead of him in a field that included Piedmont, Deer Creek, Edmond Santa Fe, Lincoln Christian, Broken Arrow, Bishop McGuinness, Tahlequah, Santa Fe South, Byng, Westmoore, Blanchard, Bixby, Cache, and El Reno.

Teagan Nelson (Jr.) also finished inside the top 60 as Mustang’s second scorer. He placed 52nd overall with a time of 16:18.20. Jackson Hill (So.) and Ashton Anderson (Sr.) cracked the top 200.

Hill placed 162nd with a time of 16:57.5 while Anderson placed 188th with a time of 17:02.5. Myles Mayfield (Sr.), Sean MartinezKappel (Jr.), and Wyatt Karber (Jr.) rounded out the team score.

Mayfield placed 271st with a time of 17:24.0, MartinezKappel placed 318th with a time of 17:40.0, and Karber placed 348th with a time of 17:51.20.

The Broncos finished 20th as a team with a score of 688. Bentonville (Ark.) finished first with 145 points, Kirkwood (Tenn.) finished second with 265 points and Vestavia Hills (Ala.) finished third with 281 points.

Piedmont led all Oklahoma teams in fourth place. Deer Creek finished fifth and Edmond Santa Fe finished 10th.

MUSTANG GIRLS

The Mustang girls finished 50th overall as a team, led by Kendall Howell (Sr.) who cracked the top 200 individually.

Howell placed 159th overall with a time of 20:30.50. Emerson Hodde (Sr.) and Jayci Klopfenstein (So.) each finished inside the top 300.

Hodde placed 232nd with a time of 21:15.60 while Klopfenstein placed 262nd with a time of 21:37.70. Natalia Echeverria (So.) placed 384th with a time of 23:23.80.

Dylan Britton (Fr.), Lauren Vivier (Sr.), and Elliana Ortiz (Jr.) rounded out the team’s overall score of 1,440 points.

Britton placed 403rd with a time of 23:44.60, Vivier placed 409th with a time of 23:50.00, and Ortiz placed 412th with a time of 23:57.70.
