The Mustang Broncos celebrated Senior Night with a blowout win over the Midwest City Bombers last week, scoring 16 runs on 14 hits while Amelia Mason (Sr.) and Aubree Hall (Sr.) combined to allow just two knocks.
Five players finished with at least two hits for Mustang (16-6, 9-0), including second baseman Abigail Keele (Jr.), shortstop Reese Poage (Jr.), right fielder Natalia Delgado (Sr.), catcher Jade Ashbaugh (So.), and left fielder Weslyn McCorvey (Fr.).
Keele led the way, going 3-for-3 with one walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Poage and Delgado each went 2-for-3 with three RBI apiece while Ashbaugh and McCorvey each went 2-for-4 and a combined three RBI.
Poage and centerfielder Lexy Kierstead (Jr.) each homered while catcher Nyli Brown (Sr.) and Delgado each doubled.
Mason and Hall combined to strike out eight Bombers while allowing just one unearned run.
SCORING PLAYS
Kierstead opened Mustang’s offensive attack with a two-run home run to left field to give Mustang a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.. First baseman Rylann Beeson (Jr.) reached on an error and scored on the bomb.
Ashbaugh singled in the frame while Keele drew a walk.
The Broncos put the game away with 10 runs on eight hits, two walks, and a dropped third strike in the bottom of the second.
Third baseman Adyson McGavock (So.) reached on a dropped third strike with one out before stealing second and reaching third on a passed ball. She then scored on an RBI-single by Poage to extend the team’s lead to 3-0. Poage scored on an error after a single by Beeson to make it 4-0.
Kierstead was intentionally walked in the following at-bat before she and Beeson scored on a two-RBI single by Ashbaugh for a 6-0 lead. Back-to-back singles by Keele and McCorvey loaded the bases before a single by Delgado and two errors cleared the pads to make it 9-0.
Brown drove home Delgado with a double to extend the lead to 10-0 before a two-run homer by Poage extended the advantage to 12-0.
Mustang scored three more runs on three hits and a groundout in the bottom of the third.
Keele got things going with a one-out single before scoring on an RBI-single by McCorvey for a 13-0 lead. Delgado followed with an RBI-double to make it 14-0 before an RBI-groundout by Brown for a 15-0 advantage.
Midwest City scored one run on a double and an RBI-groundout in the top of the fourth, however, the Broncos answered with one run on a walk, an error, and a single in the bottom half of the frame.
Poage led off with a walk before Beeson reached on an error. Both runners advanced on a pair of fielder’s choices by Kierstead and Ashbaugh before an RBI-single by Keele made it 16-1.

The Broncos travel to Midwest City to take for a rematch with the Bombers (3-11, 0-7) on Tuesday, Sept. 17 before returning home on Sept. 19 to host the Edmond North Huskies (9-8, 4-4). Mustang has already defeated both teams in district play this season.
