The Mustang Broncos picked up six wins in the 2024 Sand Springs Tournament last weekend, finishing runner-up in the two-day event.
The Broncos (7-2) started strong with four wins on Friday before dropping their only loss to Owasso on Saturday. They rebounded with wins over the host Sandites and Southmoore to wrap up the team’s first tournament of the season.
MUSTANG 2, ENID 0
Outside hitter Grace Davis (Jr.), middle blocker Emrie Brown (Sr.), and setter Reagan Glenn (Jr.) led the team offensively. Davis and Brown each finished with nine kills while Glenn paced the squad with 24 assists.
Outside hitter Hayden Tobolsky (Jr.) added six kills while opposite side hitter Hadley Hunter (Sr.) finished with four and middle blocker Siyah Williams (So.) produced two. Libero Gracelyn Higgins (Sr.) tallied four assists.
Brown and Davis each finished with three aces in the service game.
Glenn and Higgins also helped lead the team defensively with four digs apiece. Brown and Hunter each added three while defensive specialist Joslynn Peterson (Jr.) finished with two. Brown and Williams collected one block apiece.
The Broncos won the first set 25-10 before finishing the match with a 25-12 win in the second set.
MUSTANG 2, STILLWATER 0
Hunter paced the team offensively, racking up seven kills in the win. Davis and Tobolsky eached added four while Brown and Williams each added three. Glenn led the way with 18 assists while Higgins produced three.
On the defensive end, Davis racked up a team-high 10 digs while Hunter tallied nine, Glenn recorded eight, and Higgins produced seven. Defensive specialist and outside hitter Stevie Sawyer (Sr.) added five while Brown added four.
Davis finished with three aces on serves while Brown and Sawyer each recorded two.
The Broncos squeaked out a 28-26 win in the first set and followed with a 25-13 victory in the second.
MUSTANG 2, PUTNAM CITY ORIGINAL 0
Six players recorded at least two kills against the Pirates, including four apiece from outside opposite hitter PraSiah Hunt (Jr.) and Tobolsky. Williams, Davis, and Hunter each recorded three while Brown produced two.
Glenn and setters Ryan McIntyre (So.), and Zoe Christy (So.) each finished with six assists.
Davis led the team defensively with three digs while Peterson and Higgins each finished with two. Davis and Williams each recorded one block.
Mustang won the first set 25-7 before taking the second set 25-14.
MUSTANG 2, PONCA CITY 0
Brown led the team on the offensive end with nine total kills while Davis and Tobolsky each finished with five. Williams added three while Hunter contributed two.
Glenn paced the squad with 15 assists while McIntyre added four. Sawyer finished with a team-high four aces on serves while Higgins tallied two.
Hunter helped lead the team defensively, finishing with a team-high seven digs. Higgins added four while Davis, Glenn, Brown, and Sawyer recorded three apiece. Williams led the way with two blocks.
The Broncos won the first set 25-10 before clinching the match with a 25-11 win in the second set.
OWASSO 2, MUSTANG 0
Tobolsky led Mustang with five kills while Brown tallied three in the team’s only loss of the tournament. Davis and Hunter recorded one kill apiece.
Glenn led the Broncos with eight assists while Higgins finished with one.
Brown finished with two aces in the service game while Davis and Hunter each finished with one.
Defensively, Hunter led the way with seven digs while Glenn finished with four. Higgins recorded three while Davis and Sawyer each tallied two. Williams and Tobolsky each finished with one block.
Mustang dropped the first set 25-19 before losing the second set 25-12.
MUSTANG 2, SOUTHMOORE 1
The Broncos bounced back from its loss to Owasso with a three-set win over Southmoore.
Hunter, Brown, and Davis led the team offensively, including nine kills from Hunter, eight from Brown, and seven from Davis. Williams finished with five while Tobolsky and Glenn each finished with four.
Glenn racked up a team-high 25 assists in the match while Davis tallied three. Williams, Hunter, Sawyer, and Brown each recorded one helper.
Davis recorded three aces on serves while Glenn and Sawyer tallied two. Brown added one.
Glenn, Higgins, Davis, and Hunter helped spur the team on the defensive end. Glenn led the squad with 12 digs while Higgins finished with 10, Davis finished with eight, and Hunter finished with seven. Sawyer added three digs while Williams tallied two.
At the net, Brown finished with a team-high three blocks while Tobolsky recorded two. Williams, Davis, and Hunter each finished with one.
Mustang won the first set 25-18 before dropping the second set 25-23. The Broncos broke the tie with a 25-17 win in the third set.
MUSTANG 2, SAND SPRINGS 0
The Broncos finished out the tournament and their runner-up finish with a two-set win over the host Sandites.
Six players finished with at least three kills, including Tobolsky (6), Sawyer (5), Davis (4), Brown (4), Williams (3), and Glenn (3). Glenn led the way with 16 assists while Higgins, Sawyer, and Brown each added two.
Higgins led the squad with three aces in the service game while Davis, Peterson, and Sawyer each tallied one.
Six players recorded at least two digs on the defensive end, including Sawyer (11), Higgins (10), Brown (5), Davis (3), Peterson (3), and Glenn (2). Williams, Hunt, and McIntyre each added one.
Mustang won the first set 25-13 before squeaking out a 25-23 win in the second set.

Brown, who was selected to the All-Tournament Team, finished the weekend with a team-high 38 kills. Tobolsky finished with 34 while Davis finished with 33, Hunter finished with 26, Williams finished with 19, and Glenn finished with 11.
Glenn recorded a team-high 112 assists while Higgins tallied 12 and McIntyre added 11. Davis led the team with 16 aces on serves.
Higgins led the team with 40 digs while Glenn and Hunter each finished with 34. Davis tallied 29 digs, Sawyer recorded 25, and Brown added 17.
Brown finished with a team-high eight blocks while Williams finished with seven. Davis and Tobolsky each added four.
