The Mustang Broncos are off to a hot start after defeating the Norman North Timberwolves in five sets on Tuesday.
Three players led the way offensively with double-digit kills while four produced double-digit digs on the defensive end.
Middle blocker Emrie Brown (Sr.) paced the team with 17 kills while outside hitters Grace Davis (Jr.) and Hadley Hunter (Sr.) each finished with 15. Opposite hitter Hayden Tobolsky (Jr.) racked up nine while middle blocker Siyah Williams (So.) cranked out seven.
Libero Gracelyn Higgins (Sr.) led the Broncos with 22 digs while Hunter finished with 21. Davis collected 15 while setter Reagan Glenn (Jr.) finished with 11.
Glenn, who finished with a team-high 46 assists in the win, also produced nine kills. Higgins finished with eight assists while defensive specialist Joslynn Peterson (Jr.) collected nine. Davis and Hunter each assisted on two kills.
Brown helped lead the team on the defensive side as well, racking up a team-high eight blocks. Tobolsky finished with four and Glenn produced three. Davis, Hunter, and Williams each blocked two shots.
The Broncos finished with nine aces in the service game, including two apiece by Glenn, Davis, Hunter, and Higgins. Opposite hitter Prasiah Hunt (Jr.) finished with one ace, one kill, and three digs.
Mustang fell behind early, dropping the first set 25-20. However, they grabbed a 2-1 lead after winning the second set 25-23 and the third 25-19. Blake Newman’s squad lost the fourth set 25-23 but bounced back to take the match with a 15-7 tiebreaker win in the fifth.
The Broncos head to the Sand Springs Tournament on Friday and Saturday before returning to regular season action against the state finalist Edmond Memorial Bulldogs on Tuesday in Edmond.
