Hoyos qualifies for 6A State Tournament with 18th place finish at regionals; Broncos finish eighth in team standings

Thalia Hoyos (Sr.) shot a 15-over-par 86 at in the 6A West Regional Tournament at River Oaks Golf Club on Wednesday, qualifying individually for the 2024 6A State Tournament this week at Stillwater Country Club.

Hoyos finished 18th overall as the top bag for the Mustang Broncos. She started on the back nine, going out with a 6-over-par 42 before carding a 9-over-par 44 on the front nine.

She played even par through her first four holes, including a bogie on the 10th that was followed by a birdie on the par-5 11th.

Hoyos parred the 12th, 13th, 15th, and 16th holes on the back nine and the third, sixth, and seventh holes on the front.

The Broncos finished eighth overall as a team, shooting a total score of 372.

Kynzie Pascoe (Jr.) finished 29th after shooting a 20-over-par 91. She finished with five pars, including two on the back nine and three on the front.

Bailee Highfill (Sr.) finished 35th with a 25-over-par 96. She finished with two pars, both coming on the back nine.

Jaeden Musae (So.) finished 41st after shooting a 28-over-par 99. Emery Bowers (Sr.) finished 42nd with a 30-over-par 101.

Edmond North won the 6A West Regional Tournament with a team score of 307. Edmond Memorial finished runner-up with a score of 315 while Broken Arrow finished third with a score of 329.

Norman North’s Juliana Hong (So.) won the tournament individually, shooting a 1-under-par 70. Edmond North’s Rylee Roberts (Sr.) finished runner-up with a 1-over-par 72 while Deer Creek Lana Brown finished third with a 4-over-par 75.

Hoyos is scheduled to tee off at 9:10 a.m. on Monday in the 6A State Tournament.
