No. 12 Broncos finish fifth in Class 6A West Regional Preview at River Oaks Golf Club

EDMOND – Senior Thalia Hoyos finished inside the top 15 while helping lead the No. 12 Mustang Broncos to fifth place at the 2024 Class 6A West Regional Preview on April 8.

The field was stacked at River Oaks Golf Club, including the top-ranked Edmond North Huskies and the third-ranked Edmond Memorial Bulldogs, both playing on a familiar course.

No. 5 Norman North, No. 9 Choctaw, No. 11 Edmond Santa Fe, and No. 12 Moore highlighted the leaderboard as well.

Hoyos paced the Broncos with a 12-over-par 83, going out with a 7-over-par 43 and coming in with a 5-over-par 40. She finished with two pars on the first nine holes and four on the second nine.

Seniors Bailee Highfill and Emery Bowers each finished inside the top 30.

Highfill finished 21st overall after shooting a 17-over-par 88. She went out with an 8-over-par 44 and in with a 9-over-par 44. She finished with three pars and a birdie on her first nine holes and four pars and the second nine.

Bowers placed 28th with a 20-over-par 91. She shot 12-over-par on the first nine holes and 8-over-par on the second nine. She parred four holes, including the third, fourth, and fifth toughest handicap.

Jaden Musae (So.) finished fourth for the Broncos and 39th overall after shooting a 25-over-par 96. She shot 13-over on the first nine, including a par, and 12-over on the second nine.

Kynzie Pascoe (Jr.) rounded things out for Mustang, shooting a 112 with pars on the par-3 12th and par-4 14th.

The Broncos shot 358 as a team, finishing just five strokes behind fourth-place Choctaw.

Edmond North won the tournament with a team score of 311 while Norman North finished runner-up at 317. Edmond Memorial finished just one stroke behind the Timberwolves in third place.
