Doubles teams finish runner-up as Broncos continue to roll at Owasso tournament

Both doubles teams reached the championship match at the 2024 Owasso tournament on March 13.

The 1 doubles team of Cristian Salas (So.) and Jaden Le (So.) and the 2 doubles team of Ivin Nguyen (Sr.) and John Pham (Jr.) each finished runner-up to help lead Mustang’s solid performance in Tulsa.

Salas and Le knocked off Bixby 6-4, 6-1 in the first round before a tiebreaker win over Bishop Kelley in the semifinals. The duo lost 6-4, 6-1 to Barlesville in the championship match.

Nguyen and Pham opened with a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Spartans before defeating Broken Arrow 6-4, 6-3 in the semis. They fell to Bedlam rival Yukon 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match.

Kevin Van lost his opening match at 2 singles 6-2, 6-2 to Bixby before falling to Bartlesville in the consolation round. He bounced back with a win over Muskogee in the seventh/eighth place match.

Karson Vega (Fr.) lost three close matches to Broken Arrow, Muskogee, and Owasso in the 1 singles bracket, including tiebreaker losses to the Roughers and Rams.
