Broncos finish 11th in Central Oklahoma Athletics Conference Tournament at The Greens

Four players shot in the 80s to help lead the Mustang Broncos to 11th place at the 2024 Central Oklahoma Athletics Conference Tournament on April 1 at The Greens Country Club in Oklahoma City.

Johnathan Benton (So.), Beau Henderson (So.), Antonio Smith (Jr.), and Zachary Waller (Sr.) all broke 90 against one of the strongest fields this season. They helped tally a team score of 333.

Benton led the way with a 9-over-par 80, finishing 36th individually.

He started the tournament on the ninth hole, scoring a bogey before turning in a 3-over-par 39 on the back nine. He followed with a 6-over-par 41 on the front nine, tallying two birdies and eight pars on the day.

Henderson finished just one stroke behind Benton, carding a 10-over-par 81. In 38th place.

He shot a 6-over-par 42 on the back nine after starting on the 10th hole. He followed with a 4-over-par 39 on the front nine, including a birdie on the par-3 eighth. Henderson recorded seven pars during his round.

Smith turned in a 14-over-par 85, including a 7-over-par 43 on the back nine and a 7-over-par 42 on the front. He finished with seven pars, including four on the front nine.

Waller shot a 7-over-par 43 on the back nine and a 9-over-par 44 on the front, good for a 16-over-par 87 overall. He birdied the par-4 fifth, which turned out to be the No. 2 handicap. He also finished with four pars.

Sophomore Brady Mansell rounded things out for the Broncos, shooting a 22-over-par 93. He shot a 12-over-par 48 on the back nine and a 10-over-par 45 on the front. Mansell recorded four pars.

Mustang finished 12 strokes behind 10th place Southmoore. Top-ranked Edmond North won the tournament with a score of 291 while third-ranked Stillwater finished second with a score of 295. No. 12 Piedmont finished third with a score of 296.
