Mustang guards Roman Miller, Tyson Pogi selected to 6A-1 All-District Teams

Mustang’s Roman Miller (Jr.) and Tyson Pogi (Fr.) earned 6A-1 All-District honors this week, capping a tremendous season for both guards.

Miller showed he is one of the elite scorers in all of Class 6A, earning a nod on the All-District First Team.

He averaged a district-leading 20.5 points per game while shooting 51-percent overall, 58-percent on two-point attempts, and 37-percent from three-point range. He also shot 84-percent from the free-throw line, going 94-for-112 this season.

Miller advanced his overall game as a junior, averaging a team-high seven rebounds while also averaging over two assists. Defensively, he led the squad with 49 steals and also blocked 21 shots.

Pogi etched out a stellar freshman campaign on route to being named All-District Second Team.

He averaged 15 points and a team-high four assists per game in his debut season. He also nabbed three rebounds per game while finishing with 38 steals on the defensive end.

Pogi showed his prowess for shot making with a team-high 76 made three-pointers on 42-percent shooting from beyond the arc. He shot over 43-percent from the field overall and over 78-percent from the free-throw line.

The Broncos went 6-8 in the first year of district play in Class 6A. They finished the season at 15-11 overall.

Edmond North’s Dylan Warlick was named the 6A-1 District Player of the Year. Darian Grant (Moore), Chiante’ Tramble (Edmond North), Walker Kennedy (Piedmont), and Tristan Hankins (Moore) were also named First Team All-District.

Clyde Davis Jr. (Deer Creek), Anthony Leonard (PC North), Khai Brown (PC North), and Hudson Linsenmeyer (Deer Creek) join Pogi on the All-District Second Team.

Edmond North’s Scott Norris was named District Coach of the Year.
