Five Broncos qualify for Class 6A State Championship Meet; Jimeson, Nguyen to swim in four events

Five Mustang Broncos will compete in the Class 6A State Championship Meet following a solid performance at regionals last weekend in Edmond.

Jacee Jimeson (Sr.), Brenda Nguyen (Sr.), Julian Hua (Jr.), Addy Padilla (So.), and Aurora Grant (Fr.) combined to qualify for state in six events as the Broncos finished seventh overall in the 6A West Regional at the Mitch Park YMCA.

Jimeson and Nguyen each placed in the top-eight in two events while also helping guide two relay teams to fifth place.

Jimeson reached state with a fifth-place swim in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:04.05. She also qualified in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing eighth with a time of :26.81.

Nguyen will swim in the 50-yard freestyle as well after finishing fifth at regionals, posting a time of :25.10. She will also swim in the 100-yard freestyle after finishing seventh with a time of :56.92.

Jimeson, Nguyen, Hua, and Padilla posted a time of 2:04.27 in the 200-yard medley relay, good enough for fifth place and a spot at state.

The team of Jimeson, Nguyen, Padilla, and Grant also finished fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 1:50.33.

The 2024 Class 6A State Championship Meet will begin with preliminary rounds on Feb. 15 followed by the finals on Feb. 16 at the Jenks Aquatic Center.
