The ninth-ranked Mustang Broncos hit the road for a dual matchup against No. 8 Westmoore on Thursday night, riding the momentum of a top-10 victory over No. 10 Choctaw last Thursday.

Coach Will Delk’s squad knocked off the Yellowjackets 49-24 on the road, rebounding nicely from a home loss to No. 7 Piedmont upon its return from Christmas Break.

The Broncos (3-2) scored seven pins and a major decision on route to their third win of the season.

Trusten Douglas (Fr.) and Van Smith (Fr.) started the dual with two straight falls at 106 and 113 pounds. Douglas defeated Bryson Hand while Smith knocked off Eli Willard for a quick 12-0 lead.

Jace Reed (Fr.) and Javin Douglas (Sr.) made it 21-0 after picking up wins in the following two matches.

Reed defeated Wesley Davies at 120 pounds for three points before Douglas won by fall over Conner Earwood at 126, marking the team’s fourth straight win.

Jaren Peterson (So.) followed a loss by Caleb Moates (Fr.) at 132 pounds with a win by fall over Jaden Veenstra at 138, extending Mustang’s lead to 27-6.

The Broncos lost two straight matches at 144 and 150 pounds before a win by Matt Hiller (Sr.) at 157. Hiller pinned Erik Seabolt for a 33-17 advantage before Daegan Reyes (Jr.) won a major decision over Jory Garrett at 165, making it 37-17.

Nate Pritz (Jr.) gave Mustang another three-match win streak as he won by fall over Ayden Thelin at 175 pounds. Sam Pritz (Sr.) followed a loss by Max Baca (Fr.) at 190 with a win by fall at 215 pounds. Blake Davis (Jr.) dropped the final match to Kaden Stitt at 285.

Mustang now has just one dual remaining before district duals on Jan. 23 at Norman North. The Broncos take on Westmoore on Thursday at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys).
