Realtor Michael S. Ray Athlete of the Week: Roman Miller elevates game on route to Bank 7 Mustang Holiday Classic MVP

After being named the 2023 Bank 7 Mustang Holiday Classic Most Valuable Player and leading the Broncos to the tournament title, Roman Miller (Jr.) has been named the Realtor Michael S. Ray Athlete of the Week for the Week of Dec. 25, 2023.

Miller was sensational in three games against Class 4A Marlow, Class 5A Del City, and Putnam City North at the Mustang Event Center.

The 6-foot-4 guard averaged over 20 points and seven rebounds per game during the tournament. He recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds in the championship game vs PC North.

He also scored 24 points in a quarterfinals-win over Marlow and 13 against Del City in the semis.

Miller looks to help guide Mustang to another tournament title this week. The Broncos travel east to take on Class 5A Tahlequah in the first round of the 2024 Shawnee Tournament on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

HONORABLE MENTION

Mya Alston (So. / Basketball): Alston was selected to the Bank 7 Mustang Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Broncos to the championship game. She averaged 15 points per game, including 21 in the team’s semifinals win over Class A No. 1 Seiling and 14 against Class 4A Classen SAS.

Tyson Pogi (Fr. / Basketball): Mustang’s freshman point guard was selected to the Bank 7 Mustang Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team after helping lead the Broncos to the tournament title. Pogi averaged over 19 points per game, including 28 points vs Marlow and 22 vs Del City.

Parker Simonsen (Sr. / Basketball): Simonsen helped guide the Broncos to the championship game of the Bank 7 Mustang Holiday Classic, recording a double-double with a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds against Class A No. 1 Seiling. She also added four assists.
