Broncos rack up nine wins in first two meets of 2023-24 season; Scott sets school record in 100-yard buttefly

The Mustang Broncos hit the pool with a successful showing in their first two meets of the 2023-24 season.

The Broncos combined for nine wins in the 2023 Norman and Altus meets, including a new school record by Mason Scott (Jr.) in the 100-yard butterfly.

NORMAN MEET

Scott clocked in at 0:58:05 in the butterfly, which was good for second place. He shed over a full minute off his previous personal best.

Gavin Davis (Sr.) and Dominic Tonn (So.) each tallied a first-place finish in individual events as well.

Davis finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.40 while Tonn finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:01.98.

Scott and Davis also helped lead the 200-yard freestyle relay team to first place along with Skyler Fair (Sr.) and Ace Seck (Jr.). They clocked in at 1:39.33.

Scott, Tonn, Seck, and Parker Campbell (Sr.) led the 400-yard freestyle relay team to first place with a time fof 3:39.05.

Along with Scott’s second place in the 100-yard butterfly, the Broncos also tallied another five runner-up finishes.

Campbell finished second in the 200-yard medley (2:20.54), Davis finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (:24.82), Austin Price (Sr.) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (6:23.02), and Scott finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.37).

The 200-yard medley relay team of Campbell, Davis, Tonn, and Fair finished second with a time of 1:52.90.

Tonn added a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.78) while Shaun Lund (Jr.) finished fifth (2:25.74). Dalton Le (Jr.) finished third in the 200-yard medley while Chase Brown (So.) finished fourth (2:58.23).

Le also finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.63 while Fair finished fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at :57.06.

Fair also finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:20.15). Price finished fourth (1:16.22).

ALTUS MEET

Scott, Davis, and Seck led the way at the Altus Meet, combining for five wins, including two apiece by Scott and Davis.

Scott tallied victories in the 200-yard medley (2:26.24) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.87) while Davis won the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.48) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.86).

Seck picked up a win in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:16.44.

The Broncos combined for five runner-up finishes, including all three relays.

Campbell and Tonn each finished with a runner-up showing in individual events. Campbell finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.17 while Tonn finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:20.03.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Seck, Davis, Fair, and Tonn finished second with a time of 2:05.09 while the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Scott, Campbell, Tonn, and Davis finished second with a time of 1:50.02.

Price, Tonn, and Seck each racked up top-three showings in separate events as well.

Price finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:27.22 while Tonn finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:17.80. Seck finished third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.80).

Campbell finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (:29.03) while Lund finished fifth (:29.60). Jackson Fogt (So.) finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:22.25) while Conner McLeod (Fr.) finished fifth (1:32.60).

Price finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.98.

Mustang continues its season on Thursday at the 2023 Edmond Meet before heading to Enid on Monday.
