After a record-setting performance against Westmoore last Friday night, Mustang senior L.B. Hayes has been named the Realtor Michael S. Ray Athlete of the Week for the Week of Nov. 6.

Hayes’ new school-record 16 receptions nearly helped lead a comeback against the Jaguars in Week 1 of the Class 6A-1 Playoffs at Moore Schools Stadium.

He finished the game with 167 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Blice (Sr.) with under two minutes remaining.

The Broncos nearly overcame a 29-10 half-time deficit. They cut the lead to one score after Hayes’ score.

The senior wideout finished second on the team with 585 receiving yards in 2023, including 49 receptions and five TDs.

HONORABLE MENTION

Bryance Sanders (Sr.) / RB – Football

Sanders, who came on strong late in the season, rushed for 140 yards on 29 carries with two touchdowns against Westmoore. He punched in a two-yard score in the second quarter and a three-yard TD in the third.

The senior running back topped the century mark this season, rushing for 1,057 yards on 158 carries with 11 scores.

Jake Blice (Sr.) / QB – Football

Blice took over at quarterback in the second half and nearly helped guide the comeback against the Jags. He went 14-for-20 passing with 197 yards and two touchdowns down the stretch.

Blice connected with Hayes in the fourth quarter for the team’s final TD and with Derrick Straughn for a 37-yard strike with 7:06 remaining. The senior signal caller passed for 289 yards and rushed for 90 this season.
