Five Broncos cap 2023 season at 6A State Championship Meet

The Mustang Broncos capped the 2023 season with a strong showing at the Class 6A State Championship Meet at Edmond Santa Fe High School last weekend.

Carol Le (Sr.), Kendall Howell (Jr.), Emerson Hodde (Jr.), Kiara Smith (Sr.), and Jayci Klopfenstein (Fr.) joined the action at Santa Fe as non-team qualifiers, looking to put a stamp on the campaign.

Le led the way for Mustang, finishing 64th overall with a time of 20:32.70. Howell also cracked the 21-minute mark, finishing 76th while clocking in at 20:54.70.

Hodde and Smith nearly crossed the finish line together as Hodde finished 92nd with a time of 21:47.88 and Smith finished 95th with a time of 21:57.76. Klopfenstein rounded things out for the Broncos, finishing 106th in her first-ever state meet, clocking in at 22:53.13.

Mustang finished with an average time of 21:37.23.

Owasso took home the team state championship with individual winner Bella Nelson as well as four other placers inside the top 50. Piedmont finished second overall while Jenks finished third.
