Garza, Pickelsimer, Darity named to Oklahoma Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-State Team

Postseason honors keep rolling in for the Mustang Broncos.

Seniors Landry Garza and Logan Pickelsimer, as well as head coach Lacy Darity, were named to the Oklahoma Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association Large West All-State team last week.

Garza and Pickelsimer were dynamic this season in helping lead the Broncos to the state playoffs for a third straight year.

 

Garza doubled as a starting pitcher and one of the team’s leading hitters. She finished with a team-high .441 batting average along with a .449 on-base percentage and a .710 slugging percentage. The University of Central Oklahoma-commit also led the team in home runs with eight and drove in 22 runs.

Garza also helped lead the team in the pitcher’s circle, going 10-5 over 16 starts. She finished with a 2.16 earned run average and struck out 74 batters.

Pickelsimer was the team’s defensive leader at catcher, committing just one error and allowing just two passed balls and four stolen bases. She accounted for 13 assists as one of the state’s top backstops.

Pickelsimer, an Oklahoma State-commit, was also one of the team’s leading hitters, batting .385 with a .431 on base percentage. She finished with eight doubles and one triple and drove in 18 runs.

Darity helped guide the Broncos to a 23-9 record in her third season and will be the Large West all-state team’s head coach. Mustang has now reached the postseason in all three years she has been at the helm.
